Privacy policy
This page explains what Blue Skyline Roofing collects when you use this website or get in touch, what we do with it, who sees it, and how to ask us to change or delete it. We've written it in plain English because you should be able to read it without a lawyer.
Last updated on the day this site launched. Applies to blueskylineroofing.com and to the calls, texts and emails that start there.
The short version
- We collect what you give us, your name, phone, email, address, message and any photos, so we can call you back and do the work.
- We never sell your details and we don't pass them to anyone for marketing.
- We only call, text or email you about your request, unless you separately ask for more.
- We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, with cookies you can block.
- Your photos and your address are never published without your written permission.
- Ask us any time to see, correct or delete what we hold. Email, call, or write to the office.
Who we are
Blue Skyline Roofing, a licensed California roofing contractor, license #1131531, at 400 S La Brea Ave Ste 104, Inglewood, CA 90301. This policy covers this website and the ways you contact us from it. The owner of the company is responsible for it, and the contact details are at the bottom of the page.
What we collect
What you give us. When you send a form, call, text or email, we keep what you tell us. Your name, phone number, email address, the property address, what you said about the roof, and any photos you send. When we do the work we add what you’d expect, the estimate, the contract, the permit, the photos our crew takes of your roof, and payment records.
What the website collects on its own. Like most websites, this one records the pages you visit, roughly where you are, the device and browser you use, and how you arrived, through Google Analytics. This is grouped and counted, and we don’t use it to identify you.
What we don’t collect. We don’t ask for your date of birth, your Social Security number or your bank details on this website. If a job needs a payment, that happens through our payment provider, not through a form here.
How we use it
- To call, text or email you back about your request, book the visit, and send the estimate and the photos.
- To do the work you hire us for, pull the permit, and keep the records a licensed contractor has to keep.
- To answer a question, a complaint, or a warranty claim later on.
- To see which pages of the site are useful and which aren’t, in aggregate.
- To meet a legal requirement, such as a licensing board request or a court order.
That’s the list. We don’t use what you give us to build a profile of you or to advertise to you.
Calls, texts and emails
When you send a form on this site, you agree that we may call, text or email you about that request. That’s the only reason we’ll contact you. For texts, this is how it works.
- We text about your booking, your estimate and your job. Message frequency depends on the job.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier.
- Reply STOP at any time to stop, and HELP for help. You can also just ask us on the phone.
- We don’t share your phone number with anyone for marketing, and we don’t send marketing texts unless you’ve asked for them separately.
If we ever want to send you anything that isn’t about your request, a seasonal reminder, say, we’ll ask first and you can say no.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your details, and we don’t rent, trade or give them to anyone for their own marketing. We share them only with the following.
- The companies that run our tools. The service that hosts this website, the form and customer record system that stores your request, our email provider, the texting service, and Google Analytics. They hold the data to provide the service to us and nothing more. The current providers are listed here.
- People who need it to do your job. The city or county building department for your permit, a material supplier for a delivery, a crane or disposal company on a big job. They get the address and what they need, not your file.
- Anyone the law requires. A licensing board, a court, or a government body with a lawful request.
- A buyer of the business, if the company were ever sold, in which case this policy would still apply.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and see how pages are used. The current version of Google Analytics doesn’t store full IP addresses. You can block cookies in your browser, or install Google’s own opt out, and the site will still work. We don’t run advertising cookies and we don’t use remarketing. If that ever changes, this section will say so and a notice will appear on the site before anything is set.
Photos of your property
Our crew photographs your roof before, during and after the work. Those photos are part of your job file and they’re yours to have. We sometimes show finished roofs on this site, on Google and on social media, and we only do that with your written permission, without your name or your street address unless you’ve said that’s fine. If you’d rather we never showed a photo of your roof, tell us and we won’t.
How long we keep it
If you contact us and we don’t end up doing work, we keep your request for two years in case you come back, then delete it. If we do the work, we keep the job file for as long as the warranty runs and as long as California requires a contractor to keep records, which is at least four years, and then securely delete it. Website analytics are kept in aggregate for fourteen months.
Your choices and your rights
Whether or not a particular law applies to a business our size, you can ask us at any time to do any of these.
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
- Correct something that’s wrong.
- Delete it, unless we have to keep part of it for a legal reason, such as a contract or a permit record, in which case we’ll tell you what we kept and why.
- Stop contacting you.
Email, call or write to the office using the details below. We’ll confirm who you are, usually by calling you back on the number we have, and reply within thirty days. We won’t treat you any differently for asking. California residents have these rights under state law. We extend them to everyone.
Children
This site is for adults arranging work on a property. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen, and if we learn we have, we delete it.
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted connection. Your details are stored in systems with access limited to the people in the office who need them, and we don’t keep copies lying around on paper or in email longer than a job needs. No system is perfect, and if something ever went wrong with your data we’d tell you promptly and say what we were doing about it.
Other websites
Links on this site go to places like the Contractors State License Board, Google Maps and our social media pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn’t cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the date at the top changes and the new version appears here. If a change affects how we’d use what you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you directly before it takes effect.
